How it's done:
Your dentist will anesthetize (numb) your tooth and the gum tissue. The tooth receiving the crown is to make room for the crown. After reshaping the tooth, your dentist will make an impression (mould) of the tooth to receive the crown.
A shade is selected to match the color of the neighboring teeth. A temporary crown is fabricated to protect the prepared tooth while the final crown is being made.
At your second visit, your dentist will remove your temporary crown and check the fit and color of the final crown. The crown is cemented or bonded to the prepared tooth.
